Please book early if you can!
The only downside to the North Fork is that lovely, inexpensive hotels do not abound. There are some lovely, quite-expensive hotels (and lots of B&Bs) and a few cute and clean but basic, fairly-inexpensive hotels (and beach motels).
In addition, most of them require a 2-night minimum stay on summer weekends such as this one in June. Also, strangely, they all close down from December to March or April, and most don't even take reservations until they re-open in that calendar year, let alone let you reserve a block of rooms in advance.

So, below is a list of a bunch that we inspected and recommend with our favorites starred (*), and if you see one you like we strongly suggest you try calling to book it soon. We've broken them into several categories to help you find a perfect place. There is one cute beach motel at which we have managed to reserve all 15 rooms, so if you particularly want to be near other folks attending the wedding that is the place to choose (see the Southold Beach Motel below). We will try to block others early next year when they will allow it, but you may not want to wait for that.
You can also see all of them mapped out and in a list with images by going to our interactive wedding map.
Southold Beach Motel * 53250 North Rd.
Southold, NY
631-765-2233
We have all 15 rooms here on hold and you can call to reserve anytime, just say you're with the Mount-Karas wedding group. It's very simple, but cute and well-priced. Perfect if you grew up going to beach motels on the Redneck Riviera in Florida and feel nostalgic for it; it's right across the street from the Sound. 15 rooms total, with kitchenettes.
The Inn at the Blue *
7850 Main Rd
East Marion, NY
631-477-0907
A little further out, but a very fun hotel, apparently. They have an outdoor Tiki bar, what more could you want? Prices are not bad, and most of the rooms can house more than 2 people, if desired.
Mattituck Motel
2150 Bay Ave
Mattituck, NY
631-298-4131
Their website is useless, but it's a cute, clean and cheap hotel option. They may be able to offer single night rooms instead of the normally required 2 night weekend stays; just ask about it.
Soundview Inn
58774 Route 48
Greenport, NY
631-477-9436
Small, simple and clean rooms right on the water, each with a little terrace and an amazing view; quite reasonable rates for the North Fork. Right on the main road though, and the cars can be fairly noisy and annoying.
Greenporter Hotel & Spa *
326 Front St
Greenport, NY
631-477-0066
A nice, hip, modernized hotel originally from the 1950s, with a good restaurant, wine bar, a lap pool and spa facilities as well. Right in downtown Greenport, so it's very convenient to shops and restaurants.
Harbour Front Inn *
209 Front St
Greenport, NY
631-477-0707
A nice place with swanky amenities, nice views, and good-size rooms. Right in downtown Greenport, at the marina.
Townsend Manor Inn
714 Main St
Greenport, NY
631-477-2000
A large inn, with rooms in various price ranges. In Greenport, so it's convenient. Rooms aren't the *most* stylish, but there are 32 of them.
Best Western East End
1830 Route 25
Riverhead, NY
631-369-2200
A Best Western in the area, clean and you know what you're getting!
Heron House Suites
61600 Main Rd
Southold, NY
631-765-5121
Nice rooms, and a nice place. It doesn't have tons of character and is not on the water, but each room can house at least 4 people and has a kitchenette.
Sunset Beach
35 Shore Road
Shelter Island, NY
631-749-2001
A really nice and quite expensive hotel/restaurant/resort at a beautiful beach on Shelter Island (which means you will need to take a ferry to and from the North Fork if you stay here).
North Fork Table & Inn *
57225 Route 25
Southold, NY
631-765-0177
A *really* nice place to stay (and to eat!), on the pricey side. Has 4 rooms, and amazing breakfasts (as well as an excellent restaurant).
Morning Glory Bed & Breakfast *
912 Main St
Greenport, NY
631-477-3324
A beautiful B&B right in Greenport.
Shinn Vineyard Farmhouse *
2000 Oregon Rd
Mattituck, NY
631-804-0367
The owners of Home restaurant in the West Village also have a beautiful winery and B&B. The tasting room is really nice, and it's *very* close to the wedding site.
Bartlett House Inn
503 Front St
Greenport, NY
631-477-0371
A nice-looking B&B right in town.
Shorecrest Bed & Breakfast
54300 County Road 48
Southold, NY
631-765-1570
A B&B with views of the Sound.
Orient Inn
25500 Main Rd
Orient, NY
631-323-2300
It's *way* out east, but very nice.
If you want to make a long weekend or a week-long vacation of it, one of the best values is to rent a house out there. This site lists a bunch of great options in the area, with varying numbers of rooms and amenities.
